Romney accuses Obama of trying to erode Americans'gun rights

Mitt Romney, a candidate for this year’s US presidential elections, has recently accused President Obama of trying to erode the gun rights of Americans with tougher gun control measures. Mr Romney spoke to the US National Rifle Association this month, saying that he would always support Americans’rights to protect the welfare of their families and the security of their homes. He also issued stern criticism of the current leader’s view of the Constitution, accusing him of regarding it as an ’evolving’document instead of a foundation that was set in stone.

NHS reform – David Cameron makes it clear that he is prepared to face the consequences

Most people in Britain would agree with the idea that the Prime Minister and his fellow politicians are working against all odds in pushing for a radical overhaul of the National Health Service. Despite overwhelming opposition from the general public, major protests with a pop up stand near parliament, not to mention stiff opposition from the British Medical Association, Cameron believes that this is not a sufficient justification to back down on his radical bill.

The Expenses Scandal is Over

The Expenses Scandal is Over

Finally, the ex-Tory peer in the House of Lords, Lord Taylor, was given a ruling in a court in the UK. He was sent to jail for 12 months for falsely claiming expenses at the amount of nearly 12,000 GBP and thus the case became a significant legal landmark that would remain a common law rule in the future.

The Tory Lord Taylor of Warwick was a prominent barrister and the first black Conservative peer. His impressive legal career leaves no room to suggest that exactly such a person, so familiar with the peculiarities and requirements of the law, would actually break it in such a gross way. Nevertheless, the Lord has claimed an disproportionate sum of money to cover his expenses. He has listed his Oxford house as his main residence and has claimed travel expenses plus expenses generated while residing in London. However, it was discovered that the peer has never actually lived in his property in Oxford and has mainly resided in London and that his travel expenses would not amount to more than a couple of thousands that he would be able to claim.

What happened with Lord Taylor’s case strongly concerned the Parliament and the people from the high courts. Such precedents might not be a unique exception and it is a probable case that others are also violating the law by daring to over claim expenses. Definitely, MPs and peers do not use cheap flights around the world. In addition to that, their travel expenses might be overestimated as they indicate one property as their own and actually reside in another, rather convenient one. The fact that Lord Taylor said before the court that he has been advised to do so by his colleagues is disturbing enough and might lead to further investigations in the area.

James Purnell Proposition

James Purnell Proposition

Former pension minister James Purnell has urged the labour government to reconsider its position on political leadership and reliance upon financial means. According to the expert economist, the current state of political aspirations for the rulers is coping with deficit rather than caring for the society.

Tackling deficit has been a problem for David Cameron who needed to make changes as horrifying as the debt of the country. However, the amounting pressure among the people in the realm is provoked not by the politics of voting reform and not even the student finance controversy that recently exploded, but the stability of the nation. Instead of focusing on quite undermining techniques like cutting jobs, the labours could have undertaken a slightly different approach.

James Parell has indicated in front of colleagues, unofficially, that the UK had another route. It is being owed quite a lot of money from different international organizations and also quite a few countries both from the Commonwealth and from other areas in the world. These are exterior signs which indicate possible routes for attracting finance. Also, attracting investment from other European countries like Germany could have been easily achieved if the government has focused on the dialogue with the European Union and on ensuring the rightfulness of the European Law.

The people in the UK do not really need cuts – they have had enough of that. They need to see real money running across the country because this is what the UK lacks the most at the moment. Collecting some old debt would be a good step towards ensuring a more stable economic environment. And providing political mechanisms for attracting investments is just another possible way of getting money into the Kingdom quickly and efficiently.

The Big Problem with Our Politics.

Have you ever stopped to wonder why so many of our politicians will end up making a total hash of things? And it really doesn’t matter which of the main parties you are talking about either; Conservatives, Labour or Liberal Democrats.

Well, part of the answer is that all of our politicians are human and humans will always make mistakes. And unfortunately, there is precious little we can do to change this. However, there is something which could be done about the other part of the problem… the part that decides which type of people it will be who make the big decisions in Parliament.

Spend, spend, spend!

Austerity is the latest buzzword to emerge from Westminster, with politicians from all parties pulling serious faces and telling us we all have to tighten our belts, make sacrifices and various other financial clichés. I’m sure they’re all right, but the problem is that the very word “austerity” now annoys me even more than the pop up display ads that seem to appear every time you click on website these days. And before you telling me to disable my pop ups, I need to have them switched on for work so I can’t get rid of the annoying buggers!

Deep Reforms Needed

Addressing the struggle of political forces and leaders in the UK to tackle social and public problems, the informative news agency Reuters generalizes the UK problem as one of social incompatibility. According to the media, the problems in the UK are not caused by deprived public circles – poor people exist in Russia, Germany, Finland and so on, but none of these countries has ever faced such a devastating riot during the last decade.

Politicians need to reconsider a significant part of the existing social order laws. These include the rules on self-defense, the softness of the policing laws, the directions in which law enforcement services can stretch peace preserving techniques. Such considerations have already been made in the UK parliament and special committees are working on developing a massive plan to tackle the problems. Nevertheless, the British public is finally expressing its unhappiness with the situation – thousands of people have signed petitions, have expressed concerns and have demonstrated their disagreement on huge banners rejecting the political leadership of the country when it comes to social stability.

Reuters also indicates that seeking advice from a top New York cop (after the British required support from US experienced bodies on how to handle such situations) is demotivating over society – Britain needs no experience advice, it needs tougher laws. This view has been generating over the web, the social media, the media service providers for weeks. Addressing it would definitely spare some of the problems for the British society – people in the country are tired of living in a place where laws and total freedom and unaccountability mix with the lives of ordinary citizens.

The UK Corruption

The UK Corruption

Traditionally, the UK has been named among the top countries in terms of anti-corruption measures. From social benefits for loyal employees of the public sector to compensation for fraud, UK has always aimed to maintain clear reputation. Or at least it was aiming to do so. Now, just like a big add shouting Discount Displays Homepage is Here, the UK government is in corruption scandals and quite serious problems – the BSkyB scandal with Murdoch, the scams of Tories that were discussed in court rooms and media materials, are finally making a counter-claim to the corruption reputation of the UK.

The Murdoch scandal revealed some serious weaknesses in the system. It is clear it was quite easy for media people to obtain information through police and politicians from simply paying well. What this reveals is that the people in public offices are actually becoming more reckless about their positions and more motivated to be a part of a more profiting scheme, be it illegal. Thus Mr Cameron has a basis for thinking – where is he leading the country to. It is clear there is a neglected problem, however, it is also cleared it has not been properly addressed when first realized.

Secondly, even politicians from the Tories have accepted dirty money or have taken parts in serious financial frauds which also leads to corruption practices. Instead of working for a cleaner political class, the Tories keep admitting mistakes. It is high time for an anti-corruption system to take place in the UK and solve some neglected issues.
